On June 15, 2022, at approximately 11:47 a.m., a fast moving storm caused significant damage to area farms in Caledonia Township. Houston County dispatch originally received a report of as power line arching on a tree on County Road 10 in the area of Prairie Ridge Rd. Upon officer’s arrival to the area, it was discovered there was a significant amount of property damage in the area of Prairie Ridge Road and County Road 1.
Damage included downed trees, power lines, barns and various outbuildings being demolished. Sheriff Inglett reports damage seemed to be isolated to the area between County Road 1 and County Road 10.
According to the National Weather Service, our area was under a storm advisory but no watches or warnings were in effect at the time. Radar did not indicate funnel clouds in the area.
Sheriff Inglett states there were no injuries reported.
Responding to the area was Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Caledonia Police and Fire Department, Houston County Highway Department and multiple power companies. Residents in that area were expected to be without power for an undetermined amount of time.
