Stanley Alan Diersen, of Caledonia, Minn., passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at Emplify Health La Crosse, Wis., at the age of 71.
He was born September 3, 1953, in Caledonia, to Wilbert “Jake” and Bernice (Rud) Diersen. He was Confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church – Eitzen in 1958 and always stayed strong in his faith. He was the church treasurer and church elder. After graduating Caledonia High School in 1972, he worked various jobs until retiring from Mathy Construction in 2016. On May 3, 1986, he married the love of his life, Laura Toomey, at the “little brown church” in Brownsville. He was a true outdoorsman always hunting, trapping, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends in the valley or on hunting trips to Canada. One of his favorite trips was going to Alaska and whale watching. Some of his favorite pastimes were participating in the demo derby, gardening and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife Laura, sons Alex (Samantha) and Abraham (Emily), grandchildren Aubree, MaKenna and Isaac Alan; his beloved Australian Shepard Eli, sisters Donna (Carl) Myhre, Joyce (George) Sanness, Bonnie Schmitz, Tammy (Steve) Schiltz and Judy Russert; his in-laws Dave Holten, Bill Rask, Jane Wohlwend, Mary (Wayne) Prax, Joan Strub, Michael Toomey, Patrick (Irene) Toomey, Terri (Shawn) Virock and Renee (Michael) Spinner; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Diane Holten and Paula Rask, in-laws Kenny Schmitz, Virgil Wohlwend and Bob Strub.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eitzen, Minn. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Friday, June 20, at the church, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the church. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family.
