Error totals were very similar in both volleyball matches. However, Spring Grove had far more offense than did visiting and winless Schaeffer Academy (0-6) but a far less efficient attack at Lanesboro. The Burros improved to 6-1 (6-1 SEC) while Spring Grove slipped to 4-3 (4-3 SEC)
SG 3, Schaeffer Academy 0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-14)
The Lions served 25 aces against a struggling Schaeffer back row on October 27. Schaeffer gave away more points with 8 service errors than they scored with 4 aces.
Up front, SG set up more attacks and nearly tripled the kill count (28 to 10). The visitors from Rochester did not have many hitting errors (5) but managed to put away only 10 kills. Schaeffer hit with 13% efficiency while SG attacked at a strong 38% (56 attacks, 28 kills, 9 errors)
Nine Grove girls were credited with kills, led by 13 from Addyson McHugh. Rachel Normann assisted on 25 of the 28 Spring Grove kills.
Maggie Lile led the defense with 7 digs and also served 94% (17-18) with 9 aces while McHugh (93%, 13-14) served 8 instant winners. All six SG servers contributed to the ace count.
Grove scored the first three points in both set one and set two before taking a 13-4 lead in the final frame. It was a fourth straight win for SG, which now leads the series 9 wins to 2.

The total error count was even (29-29), but Lanesboro had four more kills and three fewer hitting errors. Neither squad hit especially well, but the Burros hit with 13% efficiency to only 7% for the Lions. Both teams served 89%, but the Burros served six more aces (11) than did SG (5). The Lions lost points at the service line with 7 errors and 5 aces.
All three sets were competitive, but the Burros won them all with late-set scoring streaks Set one had been tied nine times, but the Lions led 23-20 before Lanesboro finished with a 6-to-1 run (3 kills, 2 ace serves, 1 block).
