With this Jan. 8 decision, the Lions (10-2, 6-0 SEC) remained undefeated and the Rebels (2-9, 0-6 SEC) winless in conference action. It was decided early with Spring Grove ahead 20-6 after a 15-to-1 scoring run on the way to a commanding 42-19 halftime margin. Southland won the second half, 29-21, but the Lions led by 26 points before a late Rebel rally.

Spring Grove had 46 rebounds to only 30 for their hosts, and offensive rebounds led to Grove’s 19-to-7 advantage in second-chance points. The speedier Lions pushed the pace to outscore the home team with fast breaks 17-9, and in the lane overall, 40-17. The girls matched a season high with eight 3-point field goals, four from Soiney, allowing Spring Grove to outscore Southland from the perimeter as well.

The Spring Grove B-team improved to 6-1 with a road win at Adams.
