It was officially termed, Community Gathering for Grief and Support, In Memory of Isaac Vick. A large assemblage of family, friends, community members and high school teammates and students gathered at the Fest Building in Spring Grove on August 19, 2026, to share their grief and memories after the shocking loss of Isaac Vick, beloved son of Tim and DeeDee Vick. His obituary stated, “Isaac T. Vick, 19, of Spring Grove/Dorchester died unexpectedly Saturday, August 15.”
Isaac was an honor graduate of Spring Grove High School, one of the four students who earned the distinction of addressing the crowd at his 2025 graduation ceremony. He was so admired by his classmates that they voted him class president in each of his four years of high school.
He was a valuable and high-achieving contributor to his high school football and trap shooting teams. He was called “Mr. Clutch” by his trap coach Christopher Bjerke, who said Isaac was at his best when the challenge was the greatest. At the national clay target tournament, when asked if he was nervous, Isaac assured his coach he was not nervous. His performance then proved the point.
Isaac, after recently attaining his private pilot certificate, planned to further his pilot training at college in North Dakota.
His pastor, Mark Abelson of Trinity Lutheran in Spring Grove, led the community program, which was also sponsored by Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer and the Spring Grove public schools.
Isaac was outstanding in many facets of his brief life, attested to by three speakers – school superintendent Gina Morken, former school principal Luke Kjelland and church trip chaperone Jessi Strinmoen. Several crisis counselors were available.
