Every year, the MN Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts organizes a comprehensive, outdoor learning event that is one of the state’s largest environmental education competitions for 6th-12th grade students. This Envirothon, as it is called, focuses on aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife and current environmental topics. The winner of the state advances on to national competition. To qualify for the state competition, teams must advance from a regional competition. The Area 7 Envirothon Committee, in cooperation with the SE Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, will be holding the area’s annual Envirothon, at the Byron Sportsmen and Conservation Club on May 6.
