It’s no surprise that Fillmore and Houston counties host numerous car shows each summer, thanks to a large community of car enthusiasts. While every show features an impressive collection of vintage cars and trucks, Spring Valley’s Fins and Films Car Show produces a full-blown rock n’ roll show.
If you love the sights, sounds, and spirit of the rock n’ roll era, this two-day outdoor event is one you won’t want to miss.
Returning to Spring Valley on July 10 and 11, the Fins and Films Car Show lives up to its creative name with a packed schedule of activities designed to appeal to automotive enthusiasts, young and old.
Organizers proudly describe the event as “more than just a car show,” and a look at the schedule will prove they are not joking. “Fins and Films is more than just your average car show! We also have a burnout pit, grass drags, pin-up shows, an outdoor movie theater, dedicated kids’ night and more! We give back to the community as well!”
Friday evening offers plenty of entertainment. At 7 p.m., young participants can take part in the Mini Pins and Greasers Show. Then, at dusk, make sure to gather at the outdoor theatre for the 1981 comedy classic “Cannonball Run,” starring Burt Reynolds and Farrah Fawcett.
Saturday’s activities begin with a parade departing Spring Valley at 9:30 a.m. for the grass drags in Ostrander. The car show officially opens at 1 p.m., followed by the popular Pin-up Show at 6:30 p.m.
Adding to the excitement, an airplane flyover is scheduled for both days of the event.
With classic cars, live entertainment, family activities, movies and plenty of nostalgic fun, the Fins and Films Car Show truly offers something for everyone-making it much more than just another stop on the summer car show circuit.
