Roberta “Bobbie” Manahan, age 96, of Chatfield, passed away with her niece by her side at the Chosen Valley Care Center on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
Roberta Louis was born on July 25, 1928, in Pleasant Grove Township, the daughter of Ronald and Helen (Kamnetz) Burk. She moved to Orion Township when she was five years old and attended District 18 Country School. She was a graduate of Chatfield High School in 1946. After graduation she worked at the Kahler Hospital for two years. Bobbie married the love of her life, Bill Manahan, on August 20, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. The couple made their home in Chatfield. She worked at Richter’s Drug Store and Laivell’s Clothing for several years.
She did volunteer work for Channel One and Community Chest Association for several years. She loved to work in her flower gardens, doing needlework, reading, cooking and baking.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, St. Francis and St. Catherine’s Division.
Bobbie is survived by her nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
Funeral services for Bobbie will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield. Father Edward McGrath will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Robert Burk, Jr., Dan Burk, Tom “Gary” Burk, Bill Burk, Tim Hoffer and Tom Ferrier.
