Richard G. “Dick” Petsch, age 79, of Preston, Minn., died on Friday, December 16, 2022, at his home.
Richard George Petsch was born on July 10, 1943, son of George and Margaret (Weyandt) Petsch in St. Paul, Minn. Dick was a car enthusiast, and enjoyed going to car shows with friends all around the area. Dick helped to start the annual car show during Preston Trout Days celebration and served as a judge. He was very active in the Preston community, volunteering his time with Meals on Wheels, restoring the train depot at the trailhead, and served as an election judge. Dick served as past president for the Preston Historical Society and Fillmore County Historical Society. He had an extensive music collection. He was a man of his faith and active in his church.
Dick is survived by his wife Cheryl Petsch of Preston, Minn.; children Heidi (significant other Bruce Dewars) Torres of Elgin, Minn., David (Elizabeth) Petsch of Lake Cormorant, Miss., and stepson Scott (Paula) Melver of Preston, Minn.; grandchildren Jennifer Brobst, Jesse Petsch, Heather Karels, Cody (Kelsey) Petsch, Nate (Erica) Petsch, Taylor Torres, Tyler Torres, Tim (Karla) Melver, and Kate Melver; great-grandchildren Faith, Jakob, Aubrey, Alaia, Mia, Kylie, and Blake; mother-in-law Donna Ibach, and brothers and sisters Jim Petsch, Karline Balmforth, Jerome (significant other Rosesue Reynolds) Petsch, William (Joyce) Petsch, and Judy Schowalter; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret, brother John Petsch, sister Kathy Petsch, and brother-in-law Michael Schowalter.
Private family funeral services will be held.
