Branding Iron
It was a Tuesday night, which is taco night at the Branding Iron.
Dale and Becky Koch, owners of the restaurant, have done an outstanding job. They have been a part of this iconic establishment for many years, cooking, serving, and doing any other job that needed to be done.
When they purchased the Branding Iron a few years ago from the Bahl family, it was a wonderful transition. Steve Bahl deserved a lifetime achievement award for his years of service to many communities in the heart of Bluff Country. Dale and Becky have continued where Steve left off.
And, during this past year, their son Kyle joined the team. He’s added some zest to the menu and food presentation. He’s a creative outside-of-the-box foodie.
When you go to the Branding Iron, you can either dine in the formal dining area or the bar. The first time I met Kyle was in the bar area. Our team at the newspaper had put in some long days leading up to press time. It was time to relax, and the Branding Iron was an easy decision for our team.
The guy behind the bar was super knowledgeable and incredible with presentation of beverages. It’s hard to describe, so you’d have to experience it for yourself. About a week later, I ran into Dale and complimented him on the gentleman working at the bar. He told me that was his son.
Fast-forward to a more recent visit to the BI. It was my wife, son, and myself. Our daughter was hanging out with a friend that evening.
My wife ordered the Mahi-mahi fish tacos, while I ordered the shrimp tacos. And our son ordered a delicious rack of ribs with a bottle of IBC Root Beer to wash them down.
Everyone loved their entrees. And, it’s not just about the taste of the food. The presentation is important, too. Truly a class act all around.
They have things clicking at the Branding Iron. Something for long-time loyal supporters of the BI, and something new for those looking to expanding their palate.
There’s a reason they have won the Fillmore County Journal Reader’s Choice Award and the Visit Bluff Country Magazine Best of the Best Award in categories like steak, ribs, burger, seafood, and fine dining.
