Rachel Dawn Hegge, age 63, passed away April 21, 2025, at the Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove, Minn.
Rachel was born on May 30, 1961, to Arthur and Eleanor Hegge and grew up in Black Hammer, Minn. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Black Hammer Swift Scooters 4-H Club. Rachel enjoyed the many 4-H activities, but moreso loved making friends.
She attended Spring Grove schools and was a proud graduate of the class of ‘79. After graduation she served on the Spring Grove City Council, and was employed for over 40 years at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove. Her position of quality control manager allowed her to travel extensively throughout the U.S., as well as Mexico and Japan until her retirement in 2023.
Rachel was known to never back down in a fight, and that did not change with her cancer diagnosis. She went through her initial treatments in 2024 like a champ, and always kept high hopes. She was looking forward to her May birthday trip to the Black Hills, as this was where she made some of her favorite memories.
Rachel’s loyalty to her family and friends ran deep. She took great care of her mom and favorite Chipin Bubbles until Eleanor moved to the Tweeten Care Center in 2024. Once Eleanor was there, Rachel developed a special friendship with Tammy Holte, and we are blessed that Tammy was also there to give Rachel such loving care.
Rachel’s friendships were a most important part of her life. Her “posse” was strong, loyal, supportive and loving in ways that cannot be conveyed in words. We are forever grateful that they built life-long friendships with her, and showed such tremendous care when she needed it most.
Rachel is survived by her favorite brother Paul (Lizzie) Hegge, and aunts Ruth Omoth and Ona Housker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Eleanor Hegge and her special friend, Liz Doely.
Rachel was a country music fan, so it seems fitting to quote these lyrics from Toby Keith: “I’m not crying cause I feel so sorry for you, I’m crying for me.” You will be greatly missed, Rachel.
A memorial visitation will be held for Rachel, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 2-4 p.m.
At Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, Minn., burial of cremains will be at a later date.
