Phyllis (Larson) Emery

Phyllis Emery Obituary - Fillmore County Journal

Phyllis (Larson) Emery, of Mabel, passed away on May 15, 2022, at 87 years of age.  She was born May 21, 1934, to Joseph and Palma (Danielson) Larson.

She graduated from Mabel High School and attended Luther College.  She married the love of her life, Jessie Emery, on January 30, 1954, at Mabel First Lutheran Church.  For many years she was a Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman.  She also worked at the Green Lea Manor, Larson Hardware, and helped at Jackie’s daycare.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and singing in the Mabel First Lutheran Choir.

She is survived by her sister Beverly Holmes and brother Joseph (Deanna) Larson; four children: Jackie Emery, Jessica (Charlie) Arnold, Carol (Scott) Raines, and Phillip (DeAnn) Emery; seven grandchildren: Jesse (Jessica) Matthews, Leah Matthews, Beth Hardinger, Shelly and Robert Raines, Kyle and Eric Emery; seven great-grandchildren: Grace, Jessie Allen, Lauren, Avery, Hannah, Leila and Teegan; her sister-in-law Nell Jane Ewing, and day-care “grandkids” who called her Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Dorothy Brandenburg, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law: Beverly Berg, Tom Emery, Raymond Emery, Lenora Selinger, Dean Emery, Roger Emery, Arland Emery, Betty Guhl and JoAnn Emery.

The funeral will be held at Mabel First Lutheran Church, Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2 p.m.  Visitation will be from 1–2 p.m. at the church.
