Permit to Carry before, during and after a weapons incident presentation to be held April 13

April 10, 2017 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal

In 2016, the Fillmore County Sheriff issued 345 permits to carry and renewed 48 permits to carry. In 2015, it was 209 permits to carry and 45 renewals. In 2014, it was 131 permits to carry and 34 renewals. With the continual growing number of permits to carry in Fillmore County, Sheriff Tom Kaase would like to better educate our citizens on what to do if you’re involved in an incident involving a weapon. This is NOT a permit to carry class that is mandatory in the permit to carry application, but a presentation to help permit holders, or those thinking of getting a permit, better understand the consequences of using or not using their weapon during an incident. The presentation will be presented by Sheriff Kaase and Fillmore County Sheriff’s Firearms Instructor Jason Harmening. This platform will allow a candid exchange of information on different aspects permit holders may not have thought of and “why or why nots.” Questions from the attendees will also be encouraged to be asked, so future presentations can further benefit our permit holders. The presentation will be held April 13 at the Fillmore County Office Building, Room 108, 902 Houston St. NW Preston. It will start at 7 p.m., and is expected to last approximately two hours.  The presentation is free to the public and open for adults (21 years or older). Seating is limited, so reservations are is required. Please reserve a seat by calling (507) 765-2843, during normal business hours.
