Are you ready for an adventure? If you were asked today to drop everything, trust in the Lord and believe that He will guide you down a new path and take you on a journey that will change your life would you be willing to take that first step?
As Jesus walked along the beach one ordinary day, he met some fishermen going about their daily routine. He said, “Come, follow me,” and we are told they immediately dropped what they were doing, left their jobs and family and chose to go on an adventure. Where? They had no idea. For how long? They didn’t ask.
Just think about that for a minute. Would you have the courage to change your direction in life. To alter the course, you had planned out to experience a new unknown journey. How many “What if.” and “Ya, but” thoughts would race through your mind?
The truth is God knocks on your door every day and offers you the gift of moving from the same old daily routine to an adventure with Him as your tour guide. We are here at the threshold of Lent, and you have an opportunity to renew your spiritual self. Faith communities all over your neighborhood are opening their doors for all who are ready to experience something other than the same old routine of life.
Have you ever noticed that when Jesus came to a town to share the “Good News” crowds gathered. When Jesus and his disciples came to a small fishing village on the north side of the sea of Galilee called Bethsaida the people left what they were doing and followed him. Are you ready to take the time to walk away from what is distracting you to give some of your time to God? When they reached the side of the hill, they sat down to listen to him. Sitting down showed that they were willing to commit themselves to his teachings. Do you have the courage to change up your schedule so you can make room in your busy life to focus on Jesus? As the day drew to an end, He then took two fish and five loaves of bread and shared fellowship and a meal with the whole neighborhood.
Churches around the area are offering Wednesday evening gatherings centered on food, fellowship, and the Word. Just as Jesus did with so many neighborhoods He entered. Are you looking for something new, a different change of pace? Come, all who are weary and heavy burden and find rest, fellowship, and a God inspired adventure of walking through the scriptures with your neighbors. Folks, the Lenten journey is here. Are you ready for an adventure? Are you ready to brush off those pesky “What ifs” and “Ya, buts” to dare try something new in your daily life? One that will bring your closer to God, closer to your neighbors and closer to your spiritual self. Come, all who are weary and find an adventure in Christ today.
