This past year has been full of tragedy for the Mabel-Canton School District, Mabel and Canton residents, the Amish community, and all associated emergency responders.
There have been a number of vehicular accidents that have claimed lives. To say it has been emotionally taxing would be an understatement.
In smaller communities where people are more connected — neighbors, classmates, friends or family — the pain is felt by many.
And this pain will take a long time to heal. For some, they may never fully heal.
There are parents, teachers, students, emergency responders, clergy, and so many others carrying the emotional weight of a community on their shoulders. They go back to work and attempt to carry on while coping in the background.
I honestly can’t imagine what some residents in the Mabel and Canton communities are experiencing as they strive to find peace and a new normal.
But, I know I can pray for them. And, I know I’m not the only one thinking of them.
What hurts one community has a ripple effect.
