Winona Police Chief Tom Williams held a press conference at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, relating to the disappearance of Madeline (Maddi) Kingsbury.
Maddi, 26, a mother of two young children, has been missing since the early morning of March 31, 2023.
The father of her children went with her to drop their children off at daycare shortly after 8 a.m. According to a conversation with law enforcement, the father then left with Madeline’s minivan to go to work. When he returned to Maddi’s residence, she was gone. She did not show up at daycare later that afternoon to pick up her children, and she did contact anyone to make arrangements to pick up her children – which was very unlike her.
She was last seen at her home in Winona, Minn. on Friday morning. She did not show up for work at the Mayo Clinic that day.
According to Police Chief Williams, she owns a 2014 dark blue Chrysler Town & Country minivan. Recent developments have led investigators to believe that Madeline’s van was seen traveling from Winona along Highway 43 to the eastern part of the Fillmore County area. Between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., her van was seen along Highway 43 in Fillmore County, Minn. Her vehicle did return to her Winona home by 1:30 p.m.
Law enforcement has searched her van and residence. They located her wallet, ID, phone and the jacket she has been wearing earlier that day.
Chief Williams shared that Madeline’s disappearance was “Involuntary, suspicious, and we are all concerned for her safety.”
The Winona Police Department is working with the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on this case. They are asking residents and landowners located in Norway Township, Preble Township, northern Newburg Township, eastern Holt Township, and eastern Amherst Township. to search their properties for anything that looks suspicious. “Walk your property, check your outbuildings,” suggested Chief Williams. He also asked the public to check their security and trail cameras on their properties, encouraging the public to look for somebody passing by in Madeline’s 2014 Chrysler minivan. When searching, please respect private property and obtain permission from landowners.
A $50,000 reward has been offered for information on Madeline’s whereabouts.
Kingsbury is described as 5’4” with brown hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Winona Police Department at (507) 457-6288.
