The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 school board was called to order by Chairperson, Chris Grindland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Members Present: Chris Grindland, Matt Helgemoe, Ken Sawle, Carl Schollmeier, Nancy Snyder and Amy Woxland
Members absent: Jeff Michel
Administration Present: Superintendent Ben Bernard, Angela Shepard, Jake Timm
District Personnel: Joel Hinke, Toni Oian & Laura Hahn
Motion by Helgemoe, seconded by Schollmeier to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Jason Boynton of Smith, Schafer presented the 2023-2024 audit report.
Motion by Sawle, seconded Snyder to approve the transfer from the General Fund to the Community Service Fund in the amount of $102,279. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Helgemoe, seconded by Woxland to approve the school year ending June 30, 2024 audit report. Motion carried unanimously.
Public Comments: The following people addressed the board; Tracy Gile, Brenda Thelen, Michele Wick, Cheryl Harvey, Shelly Malone, Molly Wieser, Holly Ekern, Tina Brevig, Kelly Smith and Robert Wick.
Motion by Snyder seconded by Schollmeier to approve the following consent agenda items: September 16, 2024 Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; Donations in the amount of $10,214, September hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $399,477.05, September payroll in the amount of $292,767.86, October board bills in the amount of $178,489.10; Personnel: Resignations: Elizabeth Landherr – Elementary Music & K-12 EL as of 10/10/24, Pete LaFleur – JH Boys Basketball Coach; Hires: Jodi Monerson – Elementary Music & K-12 EL Teacher, Vanessa Hegge – Paraprofessional, Chelsey Soppa – Foodservice Assistant, Patrick Finley – Van Driver Sub and Fisher Klatt – Teacher Sub. With a roll call vote of 6:0, motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Woxland, seconded by Helgemoe to approve the MSBA Model Policy Technical Revisions for the following policies: 418, 419, 506, 515, 516, 521, 524, 532, 601, 603 & 709. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Snyder, seconded by Sawle to adopt the Resolution Establishing Combined Polling Place. With a roll call vote of 6:0, motion carried unanimously.
2024-2025 Snow removal bids were reviewed. Bids were received from Atkinson Construction and Hammell Equipment. Motion by Sawle, seconded by Helgemoe to accept the bid from Atkinson Construction. Motion carried unanimously.
2024-2025 Fundraisers were reviewed. Motion by Snyder, seconded by Schollmeier to approve the fundraisers and delegate the approval of additional fundraisers to Superintendent Bernard.
Superintendent Bernard presented the Superintendent’s report.
Angela Shepard presented the Elementary report.
Jake Timm presented the Middle School / High School report.
Joel Hinke presented the Activities / Community Education report.
The Hiawatha Valley Education District Report was reviewed.
