MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE Rushford-Peterson SCHOOL BOARD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239

The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson Chris Grindland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023 in the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members Present: Chris Grindland, Jeff Michel, Ken Sawle, Carl Schollmeier, Nancy Snyder and Amy Woxland

Members absent: Matt Helgemoe  

Administration Present: Superintendent Ben Bernard, Angela Shepard and Jake Timm

District Personnel: Laura Hahn

Motion by Sawle, seconded by Schollmeier to adopt the agenda with the following addition: Consent agenda: Personnel: Resignation of Amy Woxland – Prom Advisor. Motion carried unanimously.

There were no public comments.

Deb Marcotte, Hiawatha Valley Education District Executive Director gave an update to the board.

Motion by Sawle, seconded by Michel to approve the following consent agenda items: June 20, 2023 Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; Donations in the amount of $3,400; June hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $404,455.10, June payroll in the amount of $364,022.38, July board bills in the amount of $710,143.41, Fund Summary Reports; PERSONNEL: Resignations: Stanley Johnson – Custodian as of 7/6/23 and Amy Woxland – Prom Advisor; Hires: Lakyn Rasmussen – Interim Kids’ Club Coordinator and Nick Agrimson – Head of Buildings & Grounds. With a roll call vote of 6:0, motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier to approve the resolution approving the Annual 10-year updated Long-Term Facilities Maintenance Plan. With a roll call vote of 6:0, motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Snyder, seconded by Sawle to authorize Superintendent Bernard to secure proposals for snow removal. Motion carried unanimously.

The board reviewed the bids that were submitted for gas, bread and milk for the 2023-2024 school year.

Motion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier to accept the bids and select the following vendors for the 2023-2024 school year: Gas: Pam’s Corner; Bread: Pan-o-Gold; Milk: Kemps. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Woxland, seconded by Snyder to approve the Resolution to renew membership with the MSHSL for the 2023-2024 school year. With a roll call vote of 6:0, motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Bernard presented the Superintendent’s report.

Motion by Michel, seconded by Woxland to close the regular meeting at 7:02 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

There was a closed session to discuss Superintendent Bernard’s evaluation. A summary will be read at the August 21, 2023 regular meeting.

Motion by Snyder, seconded by Michel to re-open the regular meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

INFORMATION: Regular Monthly Meeting – Monday, August 21, 2023 – 6:00 p.m. in the Forum Room

Motion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier, to adjourn the regular meeting at 8:05 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
