Michael L. Hansen, age 53, passed away on July 26, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born in Aberdeen, S. Dak., on March 3, 1969, to Gary and Karen (Johnson) Hansen.
Michael lived a full life. He was a member of the Junior Olympics in cross country and still holds the record for the 800-meter race at Chatfield High School. Michael went on to be a talented and successful horse trainer, competing all over the United States, winning numerous titles in the RSNC (Ranch Sorting National Championships), AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) world champion, as well as the NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) and NRCHA (National Reined Cow Horse Association) titles. He served as a board member in several horse associations and was an advocate for all animals. He enjoyed playing basketball and golf and was very passionate about hunting.
He is survived by his parents Gary and Karen (Johnson), sister Raymie Hansen, wife Lisa Hansen, stepdaughter Taylor Cridge, niece Karlie (Chance) Jandel, close family friend Jess Harris, several aunts, uncles, cousins.
He is preceeded in death by paternal grandparents Harold and Jeanette Hansen, Aunt Sharon (Hansen), and maternal grandparents Neil and Irene Johnson and uncle Noel Johnson.
A celebration of life for Michael will be on August 20, 2022, at the Hansen family farm in Chatfield, Minn., at 1 p.m.
