Meet the Candidates: DeWayne (Tank) Schroeder for Caledonia Mayor

October 12, 2020 by Fillmore County Journal

Caledonia Mayor

Tell us about yourself.

My wife Karen and I have been married for 56 years. We have two daughters, four grandchildren, one great-grand child and ine on the way. I am a lifelong resident of Caledonia. I was a member of the Caledonia Fire Department for 25 years and chief for seven years.

Why are you running for office?

I am running for mayor because I have been active in our city ever since I started working for the city in 1972, with 38 years working for the street department and the water wastewater department.

I was on the city council  for four years and have served as the mayor for the last four years.

What do you hope to accomplish if you get elected?

Having served as mayor I have seen the completion of the aquatic center, the completion of the N. Kingston reconstruction project (installing sanitary sewer lines, water main pipe lines, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and lights).  Within the next two years I would like to see the completion of two new projects that the city is working on.  The new water/wastewater treatment facility and a new well to keep our system updated. Further into the future I can see a new ambulance building.
