Mark Stevens obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Mark A. Stevens, 65, of Spring Grove, formerly of the Decorah area, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, Wis., from a long battle with cancer.

Mark was born October 17, 1958, in Decorah Iowa, to Milton and Ruth (Wernett) Stevens.  As a young man, Mark enjoyed farming on the family farm with his dad. He also owned and milked his own herd near Waukon. Mark worked at Weiss Family Farms for many years, then worked at Foresight Farms, from where he retired. He also helped two of his sons start Stevens Dairy near Waukon. He was married to Debra (Strelow) and had five wonderful children. Then on April 27, 2013, he married Darla Sass in Las Vegas, Nev.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, family trips to Summit Lake, Wis., trips to the casino, and especially spending time with family.

Mark is survived by his wife Darla of Spring Grove, children Julie (Wade) Bolson of Decorah, Wendy Stevens of Decorah, Mike (Rachel) Stevens of Greeley, Colo., Brian (Justine) Stevens of Waukon, and Jarred (Carlie) Stevens of Minneapolis; stepdaughters Robyn (Tanner) Moen of Eyota, and Cheyenne (Rachel) Moen of Spring Grove; grandchildren Caelynne, Emily, Brealynne, Jonsthan, Adalee, Elisia, Alivia, Jarred Jr., Mavren, Sawyer, Kyra, Nova and Alora; four great grandchildren: Ella, Aurora, Oliver and Juniper; a sister, Faith (Bobby) Stevens of Lynxville, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, and his brother, Kendell Stevens.

A celebration of life will be held 2-6 p.m., Saturday, December 9 at the American Legion Post 299 in Mabel.  The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
