Marcia Lynne (Corson) Benavidez-Teel, age 75, of Kissee Mills, Mo., passed away suddenly as the result of natural causes on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 2 p.m.
Marcia was born on Friday, December 13, 1946, at Lanesboro, Minnesota to Manford (Stub) and Millie (Davidson) Corson. She attended Harmony Grade School and Preston High School and graduated in 1964. During her younger years, Marcia enjoyed playing in the school band, roller skating in Harmony, and bowling in Preston at her parents’ bowling alley. As she grew, she developed a fondness for horses and participated in barrel races and trail rides. Professionally, Marcia was proud to graduate from Methodist Kahler Nursing School as a registered nurse, and her first assignment was in Anchorage, Alaska, when the big earthquake came! She returned to Minnesota where she met and married Max Benavidez on March 16, 1974. Marcia and Max were blessed with a daughter, Margarite and a son, Matthew during their marriage. Their family moved to El Paso, Tex., where they often made trips to Mexico, and Marcia learned to speak Spanish, which helped her with her nursing skills. Max and Marcia later divorced, and Marcia moved to the Twin Cities to continue working in the healthcare field. It was there that she married Doug Teel on August 3, 2002, and they spent 10 happy years together before he died on October 20, 2012. She continued living and working in the Twin Cities until recently moving to Kissee Mills, Mo., with her son Matthew.
Marcia will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her strong opinions, her infectious smile, and especially for her kind heart. Marcia truly cared about people and would often try and help her kids and grandkids if they were in need, even if it was during a time when she needed help herself. She received joy from helping others through her nursing and healthcare positions. She very obviously enjoyed spending time with her siblings and her family, and she would never miss a family holiday or reunion. Marcia was an integral part of family gatherings and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children Margarite and Matthew, her stepchildren Jon, Lisa, Nolan, and Kortney; 10 grandchildren: Kathryn, Kaitlyn, Jon, Michelle, Thomas, Travis, Jazmin, Alexa, Nevada, and Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Evan and Ian. She is also survived by her sister Jimmilee Miller and her brothers Steven (Nancy Hengeveld) Corson, Kirk (Nan) Corson, Stuart Corson, Brett (Nancy) Corson, and Carlisle (Traci) Corson.
She is preceded in death by her ex-husband Max Benavidez and her husband Doug Teel, her parents Manford and Millie Corson, and a grandson, Kaleb Rivera.
Cremation is under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Mo.
