Man in Custody After Spring Grove Manor Fire

On January 23, 2025, shortly after midnight, the Houston County Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call of an apartment fire at the Spring Grove Manor apartment complex on Maple Street in Spring Grove, Minn.  Houston County Deputies and Spring Grove Fire Department, Spring Grove Ambulance, Caledonia Police Department, and Eitzen Fire Department were dispatched to the apartment complex.  

Upon arrival Houston County Deputies and Spring Grove Fire Personal were able to evacuate all the tenants safely from the building.  No injuries were reported except for smoke inhalation issues from responding deputies.  All residents were evacuated to a local church and were assisted by the Red Cross and Houston County Emergency Management.  

The apartment complex consists of 31 units, 26 were occupied, 28 people were in the building at the time of the fire.  The Red Cross assisted in relocating 13 of the 28 people for the rest of the night.  The other 15 went to friends and relatives’ homes. 

Andrew Forester (36 years old) was taken into custody pending arson charges.  Mr. Forester was a resident of the apartment complex at the time of the fire. The investigation is ongoing, and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
