Lucena (Lucy) Hutton

Lucena Hutton obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Lucena (Lucy) Hutton died December 26, 2024, in Temple, Tex. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church and she was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple, Tex.

She was born March 16, 1950, to Olimpio Corsame Salinas and Januaria Herona Lomallo in the Philippines. She married Douglas Lee Hutton June 21, 1972. She worked in finance and managed rental property for many years. She was also a homemaker, an excellent cook and seamstress. She also loved ballroom and line dancing. Mrs. Hutton loved and protected her family, taught her children and grandchildren the value of working hard, respect for others, and the importance of close friends and family.

Lucy suffered with a non-treatable neurodegenerative disease called progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) for four years.

Mrs. Hutton is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Manuel Salinas, Domingo Salinas and Marcilino Salinas; sisters Linda Taylor-Maple, Elsa Salinas Pica, Maria Salinas, and Evangeline Salinas; daughter Michelle Zamora and granddaughter Allyssandra Smith-Powers.

Her survivors include her husband, daughter Gail Smith, three grandchildren: Anastasia Kees, Marcus Smith, and Kaleb Zamora; two great-grandchildren, Mykel Ledbetter and Hannibal Kees; a brother, Edito Salinas; five sisters: Leonila Kearney, Emilia Caranto, Lucia Broussard, Lucilyn Salinas and Teresita Lenhardt; and many nieces and nephews.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Homes in Temple, Tex., oversaw the arrangements for the family.
