Llewellyn “Lew” Randall, age 82, of Preston, Minn., died on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Traditions of Preston.
Llewellyn Ordell Randall was born on June 29, 1942, in Lanesboro, Minn., to Layne and Eva (Rasmussen) Randall. Lew grew up in Lanesboro and graduated from Lanesboro High School. He married his first wife, Myrna Ama, and had three children: David, Tami and Teresa. They later divorced. On October 2, 1982, Lew married Josephine Reedy at the Methodist Church in Marion, Iowa, with her children Pam and Michelle adding to the family.
Lew spent his years working as a machinist. He took pride in his job and did exceptional work whether it was using a drill press, being a CNC operator, or test driving cranes. He loved it all. Lew also could fix nearly anything, and was willing to help anyone with whatever he could. He also took great satisfaction in keeping his shop neat and organized; everything had a place.
Lew treasured spending time with family outdoors. Fishing and camping were his two favorite things. He loved trout fishing; he was out in the water fishing as soon as he could walk. He also enjoyed playing cards. Family and friends would call him Mr. Magoo because of his luck. Lew liked to have a good time, taking his camper on many vacations, sitting around the campfire, telling ghost stories. Lew and Jo took that camper and traveled to every mountain range west of the Mississippi. Lew was just a happy, fun-loving guy that loved to tell tall tales; he was an excellent storyteller. Jo claimed she never had a boring day in her life after she met Lew! He will certainly be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Lew is survived by his wife Josephine of Preston, Minn.; children David (Nancy) Randall of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Tami (Mark) Roseberry of Center Point, Iowa, and Teresa (Todd) Mishak of West Liberty, Iowa; stepchildren Pam Shafhausen of Rochester, Minn., and Michelle Slife of Walker, Iowa; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, siblings Sharon (Jim) Enzenauer of Rochester, Minn., Delaine (Alton) Erickson of Preston, Minn., Pat (John) Lorenz of Stewartville, Minn., Kathy (Jeff) Hebl of Lanesboro, Minn., and Lori (Curt) Harland of Austin, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Lew will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., with Pastor Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the start of the service.
