Letter about Jeff Erding

To the Editor,

There is no radical left. To continually rant about left-wing conspiracy is to promote the lies and gaslighting of the Trump administration.

I don’t see any democrats being indicted for malfeasance, but many of Trump’s cronies have been.

I have not seen any slander of Christianity in Brian Van Gorp’s pieces, but it is rampant in the advertising for Trump, whose supporters don’t even pay attention to what Jesus said but call down damnation on those who follow Jesus’s instructions to respect all people, to welcome the stranger and to give of your wealth to others.

All these right (wrong)-wing Christians care about are the 2nd Amendment, preventing women from having abortions, and preventing immigration. 

Most Americans think immigration is a good thing.  It fills jobs that nobody else wants to do, and brings in new blood, new ideas, and new idealism to balance the inertia of those whose privilege has made them lazy, complacent, and greedy.

Most Americans believe that birth control, including abortion, is the business of women who has to carry, give birth to, and raise a child.

Most Americans think stocking up on guns and ammunition is the job of the National Guard, not individuals.  The recent issues in the Twin Cities showed that the National Guard has plenty of power to support local efforts.  Individuals who arm themselves out of fear are being deluded by powerful lobbies for the purpose of dividing them from their neighbors who believe in peace, love, cooperation and equal rights for all.

Most Americans don’t hate Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and women.  Those who do are misinformed, deluded, ignorant, and browbeaten by right-wing fear mongering propaganda.

How can you support this insanity by publishing this hate speech against “the radical left,” which in fact, the majority of your fellow citizens?
