LeRoy-Ostrander School Board

October 10, 2022 by Fillmore County Journal Leave a Comment

Paul Apenhorst

Paul Apenhorst Candidate for LeRoy-Ostrander School Board

1. Tell us about yourself.

I’m a native of southeastern Minnesota, growing up in Adams and graduated from Southland in 2012. I attend Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S. Dak., and obtained my bachelor’s in Business Administration. I ran track & field for GMLOS and for DWU. After college, I moved back home to Minnesota and plan to stay. My wife and I live in LeRoy with our daughters, Scarlett and Melody, and our two pups. Scarlett is currently enrolled in the LeRoy School District. I’m employed with Kraus-Anderson Insurance as a Commercial Insurance Broker, specializing in Public and Charter Schools.

2. Why are you running for office?

My wife and I have only lived in LeRoy a short time, but with speaking to many different individuals, I believe I can have an impact on our school. With my career dedicated to insuring schools and my heart dedicated to children’s success, I’m motivated to run for school board. I am running to bring my knowledge, fresh understanding, and an outside perspective to the board. There needs to be a voice for parents with young children, one who will think first on the educational needs of our elementary school before all else.

3. What do you hope to accomplish if you get elected?

I want to accomplish all I can for parents who want to be heard. I know there are issues, concerns, and conversations in our community. I want to do my part to make sure those issues and concerns are met with a viewpoint of a parent with kids in elementary school. I’m the candidate who will gladly talk to parents and address their needs, because my career revolves around listening to others. My goal is to do the best I can to make a positive impact on the community we live in.
