Amanda Thauwald, the newest addition to Kingsland’s faculty, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to her role as the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. Originally hailing from Rochester, Minn., Amanda has deep roots in the local community and continues to find joy in living there.
Amanda’s educational journey began at John Marshall High School, and she went on to pursue her college education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., where she earned a degree in elementary education. Her commitment to furthering her expertise led her to Southwest MN State University, where she obtained a master’s degree, solidifying her dedication to the field of education.
Prior to joining Kingsland, Amanda dedicated herself to teaching middle school math in Austin, Minn. Her passion for education and her students led her to Stewartville, where she continued to inspire young minds while also pursuing her desire to teach elementary children. After several years of teaching kindergarten, an opportunity arose at Kingsland to teach special education, a change that Amanda found incredibly rewarding.
Outside of her professional life, Amanda finds joy in her family. She resides with her husband Aaron, who also works at Kingsland High School, and her daughter Siena, a student at Kingsland. Their household is further enriched by the presence of two beloved cats, Marshmellow and Kitty Wampus. With Amanda’s transition to Kingsland, the entire family is now able to sync their schedules, allowing for more quality time spent together.
Amanda truly appreciates the supportive and inclusive atmosphere of the small school. Both parents and students have been incredibly welcoming, and her co-workers have also been wonderful.
Cole Roeder, the new high school Industrial Technology teacher, grew up on a family farm near Stewartville, Minn., where he still lives. After graduating from Stewartville High School in 2004, he attended RCTC and then Winona State. Initially pursuing a Social Studies degree, he switched to teaching after receiving positive feedback from friends. Prior to joining Kingsland, he taught Woods in Goodhue, Minn., aiming to share his knowledge and passion for new things with students. He also taught deaf and hard-of-hearing special education at Mayo High School.
Cole and his wife Nikki are proud parents to three wonderful children. Their eldest, Payten, is 14 years old, while Shea is six, and their youngest, Grady, is just four. Cole is passionate about track racing, snowmobiling, and taking care of his cattle. The family also upholds their legacy by actively participating in 4-H, FFA, and open class cattle events at the Olmsted County Fair.
Cole is a huge supporter of wrestling. He has dedicated nearly 15 years to coaching wrestling at Stewartville Schools and currently serves as the head coach of the girls program. His commitment to the sport is evident as all three of his children are also involved in wrestling.
Cole is excited to be part of the Kingsland team. He enjoys being able to drive to work and see tractors and deer in the fields.
The school also welcomed Martin Moore as a new high school Science teacher. Erin Stevenson also joined Kingsland as an elementary special education teacher and early childhood teacher.
