Kathleen Myrah

Kathleen Marie Myrah, age 76, of Spring Grove, passed away suddenly at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by her family and holding her grandson Cavin’s hand.

Kathy was born on August 15, 1946, in Decorah, Iowa, to Curtis (Shorty) and Anastasia (Tubby) (Carolan) Foltz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anges-Plymouth Rock Church in rural Winneshiek Co.

She attended Hesper #3 grade school and she was a 1964 Mabel High School graduate.

She worked with insurance at Gundersen Clinic and Mayo Clinic Healthcare, and later loved being a school bus driver and interacting with the kids.

On October 22, 1988, Kathy married David Myrah at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.

Kathy was a member of the Spring Grove American Legion Auxiliary.

Kathy enjoyed collecting family heirlooms and many other kinds of antiques, growing flowers, and caring for her horses. She also liked to sew, making many items for her family.

She was also an advocate for special needs individuals, and was her grandson Cavin’s best friend and biggest supporter. She was extremely proud of all her grandchildren, and was very proud of her Irish heritage.

She is survived by her husband David of Spring Grove, her son Curt of Spring Grove and daughter Cyndi (Philip) Meyer of Anthem, Ariz., grandchildren Anthony (Jessie) Samuelson, Carter and Amber Meyer and Emily, Cavin, Clara, Ian, and Aaron Myrah; her great-granddaughter Norah, her brothers Jim (Julie) Foltz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Gerry Foltz of Decorah, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Karen Myrah, and sisters and brother-in-law Marilyn Bunge and Leonard and Janna Myrah.Also surviving are numerous cousins and her special friend Darlene Oakes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special uncle Terrance Carolan, her brother and sister-in-law Edward and Audra Jean Myrah, her brother-in-law Waldo Bunge, and her father and mother-in-law Lorentz and Sigrid Myrah.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Elizabeth Hermeier will officiate. Private family burial will be at a later time. Friends may call Wednesday at the church from 9-11 a.m.

Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is assisting the family with arrangements.
