Karlos “Leslie” Olson, age 79, of LeRoy, Minn., died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Gundersen Harmony Care Center.
Leslie was born May 10, 1945, in Colquitt, Ga., the son of Millard and Elaine (Smith) Olson. He attended school in Lanesboro, Minn. As a teenager, he worked for farmers in the Whalan and Lanesboro area. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service, he worked as an over the road and local truck driver for many years. He and his father raised and showed Walker Coonhounds. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad. He played pool, and participated in many tournaments. Les’ constant companion was his dog Ranger, who he loved dearly. He was also blessed with a special friend and caregiver, Carol Rippentrop.
Leslie is survived by his daughter Jessica, nieces and nephews Michelle (Shawn) Kohner, Angela (Travis) Stienfeldt and Lee (Kelly) Olson; great-nieces and nephews Cameron Stienfeldt, Ashley Puig, Miranda (John) Tidwell, Brandin Habeck, Madeline Kohner, Elanna Kohner, Cale Kohner, Griffin Olson and Reece Olson; and special friend Carol.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry (Bonnie) Olson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Whalan Lutheran Church, with Rev. Pat Hinkie officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
