Jeremy Miller
Candidate for State Senator District 26
Republican Party
1. Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised right here in Southeastern Minnesota. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Janel for 13 years and we are proud parents of three boys, Drew (10) and twins, Luke and Tom (9). I have a technical college degree in accounting from Minnesota State College Southeast and I’m the fourth generation to be involved in a family owned and operated recycling business, Miller Scrap, located in Winona. Janel and I are both active volunteers in the community. I enjoy running, coaching youth sports, and fishing with the boys.
2. Why are you running for office?
It’s a great honor to serve the people of Fillmore, Houston, Winona, and now, Mower counties as a State Senator. One of my biggest frustrations at the Capitol is the extreme partisanship of party politics. My approach is different and my philosophy simple: listen to the people and work together to get good things done. I’m extremely proud of what I have helped accomplish during my time in the Minnesota Senate, including lower healthcare costs, record investments in education, and major infrastructure projects. We also increased funding for nursing homes, mental health services, and disability service providers.
3. What do you hope to accomplish if you get elected?
As I visit with folks around the district, people have made it clear. Record inflation is crushing family budgets and I fully support permanent, ongoing tax relief to put more money back in the pockets of hardworking Minnesotans and senior citizens by cutting taxes and eliminating the tax on Social Security benefits. We must stop fraud, waste, and abuse in government to protect the taxpayers. I support police officers and getting tough on crime. If someone breaks the law, there should be consequences. Finally, I support funding to provide students more opportunities to be successful in the classroom and beyond.
