James and Darlene Sanden

June 27, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

James Glen Sanden and Darlene Irene (Schafer) Sanden will be interred together forever at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery.

Jim was born on July 3, 1936, in Harmony, Minn., to Glen and Edith Sanden. He passed away November 15, 2021. Jim was a collector and a woodworker. He always had a beautiful garden.

Darlene was born on April 25, 1945, in St. Cloud, to Alvin and Geneva (Court) Schafer. She passed away October 27, 2016. Darlene loved quilting and playing cards, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jim and Darlene were married on July 1, 1977, nearly 40 years. They loved to travel; they visited all 50 states together. They were huge Minnesota Vikings fans and had season tickets for many years. They loved spending time at their cabin in Amherst.

They are survived by daughters Jennifer Sanden of St. Paul, Minn., Beth Sanden of Park City, Utah, and Vicki Sanden of Port St. Lucie, Fla., son Mark (Laura) Sanden of Apple Valley, Minn., grandchildren Caitlyn, Cameren, Danielle, Jimmy, Jayden, Ashley, Sophie, Lauren, and Andrew; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

They are preceded in death by their son Arnold Meier.

Please join the family on Monday, July 3 at 3 p.m. at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Preston for their military honors service.
