In Decorah, explore three captivating waterfalls. Malanaphy Falls, nestled within Malanaphy Springs State Preserve where it meets the Upper Iowa River, can be accessed by foot or by canoe/kayak for a stunning view from the river. Dunning’s Spring Park, located on Quarry St./Ice Cave Rd. off College Drive, features a majestic 200-foot waterfall and a beautiful rock bridge that crosses the stream allowing visitors to climb to the top of the falls. Nearby, Siewer’s Springs along the town’s bike path offers a serene step waterfall experience and is a popular spot for fishing. Look up and you may see eagles flying overhead.
In Hokah, Como Falls awaits at 9 Mill St., peacefully nestled behind the fire station behind the fire station in Hokah. Information signs share the historical background of the area.
Winnebago Springs, located at 19708 Camp Winnebago Rd outside Caledonia, is a charming small waterfall where crystal-clear spring water bubbles gently over rocks and through lush green grass.
In Lanesboro, don’t miss Mill Pond Overlook at 401 Parkway Ave S. where a dam along the Root River creates a scenic backdrop for this picturesque town.
Lastly, journey Niagara Cave at 29842 County Road 30, Harmony, where a mesmerizing 60-foot underground waterfall cascades gracefully in a mesmerizing display of nature’s beauty, surrounded by limestone formations creating a serene and picturesque underground setting.
