Harold Manford Hellickson, 83, of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Spring Grove, Minn., to the late Donald and Elsie Hellickson.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Howard Hellickson, Victor Hellickson, Jerome Hellickson, and his sister Wanda Pieper.
Before settling in Hendersonville, he also resided in Atlanta, Ga., and Winona, Minn.
Harold worked in sales, marketing, and research and development for Olin Corporation. He was also involved in NAACP, Henderson County Elections, Occupy Hendersonville, Democracy North Carolina, Meals-on-Wheels, and The Curmudgeons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Hellickson; daughters Leah Craver (Allan Craver) of Douglasville, Ga., Jami Hellickson (Ken McGimsey) of Issaquah, Wash., and Kira Backes (Joe Backes) of Auburn, Calif.; grandchildren Ashleigh Morris (Robert Morris), Robert Craver, Joshua McGimsey, and Amelia Backes; great-grandchild Robert Morris, sisters Ancy Hellickson of Caledonia, Minn., and Erma Hellickson of Kent, Wash.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Shuler Funeral Home, with Rabbi Philip Bentley officiating.
