At the March 11 Harmony City Council meeting, the consent agenda was approved and included the minutes of the February 11 meeting, the claims and February checks, the cash in CD, and the cash balances. A letter stating that the city had taken the actions required by an earlier letter sent by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or MPCA in February was approved as well as the 2025 ambulance subsidy contract with Fillmore County City Emergency Services.
The DNR began tree removal during the first part of March along the bike trail extension as the second phase of the project begins. Dirt work will begin as the weather permits.
City Administrator Alyssa Stelpflug requested that she be allowed to continue working 40 hours a week as she is using that time to support the audit preparation, completing training, and assisting with advancements in the city’s electric meter technology. The Personnel Committee had reviewed the request earlier and recommended that the council approve it which they did. When the audit has been completed, Stelpflug’s hours will be reviewed again.
Erica Thilges reported that the Harmony Chamber guidebook is currently being printed. The volunteer round-up is coming up at the visitor’s center. The Easter Egg hunt has been planned for April 19 and the Fourth of July planning meetings are underway.
The Harmony library board is currently in the second round of interviews for the position of children’s librarian and library aide.
At the last Arts Board meeting, the two student representatives on the board gave a review of the trip the Fillmore Central High School choir took to Minneapolis to perform the national anthem at a Timberwolves game.
The fire department recently replaced the ladder which led to the storage area at the fire hall to a stairway which will make it easier to access. They expect to have a purchase request ready soon for the fireworks.
