The Final Plat for a new subdivision, Golfview Doherty First Addition, was approved at the Preston City Council’s May 16 meeting, as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The subdivision is to be located along the eastern side of Golfview Dr. and is to consist of eight lots for single family homes.
City Engineer Brett Grabau noted that a site grading plan had been submitted to keep the development more conformed. It was one of the conditions listed by Planning and Zoning when the Preliminary Plat was approved.
Tom and Dorle Kaase, owners of Jailhouse Inn on Houston St. NW, had applied for a variance from the city code requirement of a 4-foot setback to the side (west) of the property line. Kaase plans to build a 32.5-foot by 16-foot deck with a roof on the north side of the detached garage. The deck will allow for additional outside seating for guests. Approval was given for the variance as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The variance will allow the deck to be setback only 3.5 feet from the property line.
