Floyd Dunn obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Floyd Dale Dunn, 92, of Rushford, died Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Floyd was born September 10, 1931, in Oconto, Nebr., to Lloyd and Leta (Chesemore) Dunn.  His mother died when he was just a couple months old and he was raised by his father and two older sisters.  He graduated from Ansley High School in Ansley, Nebr., and then enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard for six years.  On December 29, 1953, he married the love of his life, Barbara Kinish.

Floyd was a farmer through and through.  He farmed with his dad for many years.  Following his dad’s retirement, he and Barbara purchased a farm in Missouri.  In 1969, they purchased a farm in Rushford and have called the area home ever since.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, four children: Dale (Deb), Danny (Deborah), Gary (Nola) and Connie (Brad) Welch; grandchildren Jennifer Busch, Erin (Russ) Young, Michelle Vanderark, Jacob (Christina) Dunn, James Dunn, Barbie Collins, Travis (Jackie) Dunn, David Dunn, Gary (Sarah) Welch and Cody (Tracy) Welch; 19 great-grandchildren with one more on the way and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alice June (Joe) Hladky and Wilda (Virgil) McCaslin; niece Judy (Don) Jones, and sisters-in-law Sarah O’Mara and Virginia Hickey.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – Rushford.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and on Friday from 4-7, also at the funeral home.
