At the April 26 meeting of the Fillmore County Board, commissioners accepted the resignation of Social Services Manager Kevin Olson with thanks for his service, effective July 21, after four years of service.
Approval was given to advertise for his replacement.
County Attorney Brett Corson asked the board to consider a request to retire from Debbie Jeffers, paralegal, effective April 28, after 47 years of service. Her resignation was accepted with thanks for her long service to the county. Corson said, “She will be sorely missed.”
A request to promote part time deputy David TerBeest to full-time deputy, effective May 11, was approved as recommended by Sheriff DeGeorge.
A status change for Alexis Burt, Public Health department, from .9 FTE to .8 FTE, effective May 6, was approved.
The agreement with Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) was approved. It includes a 3% wage increase for all positions effective January 1, 2022, a grade increase for the position of captain, and additional $1 per hour for Grade 12 positions (sergeant, narcotics officer).
Other business in brief
• The 2022 Aggregate rock bids were approved (Orval Sorum & Sons, Bruening Rock Products, and Milestone Materials). Bids from each of them were also accepted for stockpiling rock.
• County Engineer Ron Gregg received approval to proceed with sub-surface repairs at the airport under the FOB (fixed base operators) building. Gregg explained water runs toward the entrance door and is washing out the foundation of the concrete sidewalk. It will be repaired using a polyurethane foam system. The cost will be eligible for state cost share. American Waterworks will do the repairs at a cost of $4,800.
• Commissioner Duane Bakke said all highway projects have been awarded for this season. He thanked Gregg for getting the bids out early.
• Approval was given for an access permit for a new field drive to CSAH 16 for Robert and Bettie Gulbranson, section 25 of Preston Township.
• Approval was given for an access permit to widen an existing driveway to CR 12 for Steve Tart, section 17 of Forestville Township. The wider driveway is needed for large machinery and semi-truck access.
• Lodging and travel were approved for a property appraiser to attend a Licensure Course, Basic Ag 101. Lodging and travel were approved for two property appraisers to attend Assessment Laws and Procedures.
• The Preston Area Chamber of Commerce License Application was approved.
