At the March 12 meeting of the board, County Engineer Ron Gregg reviewed projects to be constructed in 2024.
This information was provided for the commissioners prior to the annual meeting of the townships later this day. Gregg detailed 11 projects: 1) concrete overlay of CSAH 1 from CSAH 39 to the west city limits of Spring Valley, 2) full depth reclamation and bituminous overlay on CSAH 4 from CSAH 38 to CSAH 5, 3) full depth reclamation and bituminous overlay in Prosper near the Iowa border on CR 113, 4) bridge replacement/box culvert on CSAH 30 in Harmony Township, 5) bridge replacement/box culvert on CSAH 12 in Carimona Township, 6) bridge replacement/box culvert on CSAH 7 in Chatfield Township, 7) bridge replacement on CSAH 29 in Newburg Township by Sportsman Club, 8) bridge replacement/box culvert in section 24 in Rushford Village, 9) bridge replacement/box culvert on Dendel Drive north of Peterson in Arendahl Township, 10) bridge replacement/box culvert on Kodiak Rd. in Carimona Township, and 11) bridge replacement on CR 107 in Norway Township which is nearly complete and being paid for with Local Option Sales Tax funding.
One township bridge replacement/box culvert project in Preston Township to be constructed in 2025 was included in the listing of the projects.
Gregg reported that two weeks before a project is to begin it will be noted on the message board.
Other Business in Brief
• Veteran Service Officer Jason Marquardt asked to move the 2016 Ford Transit vehicle (small van) to the county fleet. The six-passenger van has 170,000 road miles on it and has been well maintained. A Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs grant has allowed the Veterans Office to buy a 2024 Equinox. The board approved the transfer of the 2016 vehicle to the county fleet.
• Joel Kroening, solid waste administrator, provided a list of nine haulers that have met requirements for 2024 Hauler Licenses. The nine 2024 Hauler Licenses were approved as presented.
• Emily Highum was hired as a replacement administration accounting technician, effective April 1.
• A closed-door session was held per attorney/client privilege to discuss a potential settlement of pending litigation.
• The county board will meet next on March 26
