My grandson Tate is 3 1/2 and is already a master at using his mom’s phone. My phone will go off quite regularly around 4 o’clock many afternoons while I’m at the office, showing his mom’s picture and that she’s FaceTiming me. I know it’s Tate, so I answer it and say, “Hi Tate! How are you doing?”
He says, “Hi Bumpa” and goes on to tell me what he’s up to. Some I can understand and some I can’t, but I always love whatever he tells me. Then he typically shows me his little sister who’s 10 months and tells me what his older brother is doing. Most of the time he asks me where’s Grammy and I tell him she’s at home and he can call her if he wants. Our chats typically don’t last too long and when he’s done talking, he’s done. Says, “Bye” and hangs up. But for those few minutes he’s brought joy to my day!
King David’s 16th Psalm speaks something similar. “I have set the Lord before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices … You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
The Prophet Zephaniah also prophesies a word of joy for those who belong to God. A word of encouragement that shows the love of the Father for his children. “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Don’t miss out on your “FaceTime” with God. He may be calling you today.
