Eugene Paul Yenter

Eugene Yenter obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Eugene Paul Yenter, of Preston Minn., born April 9, 1935 to Harry and Martha Yenter of Oxford, Iowa, the second of six sons, passed away on April 13, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64-plus years, Carole (Spivey), children Cheryl Yenter and David Briars, Paul and Lori Yenter, Virginia Yenter and Bill Yanowsky, Ruth Yenter and Daniel Yenter. His beloved grandchildren also survive him: John and Sara Yenter-Briars, Emma Yenter Yanowsky, Gwendolynn and Sheridan Yenter; and his brothers John and Allan Yenter.

Eugene was preceded in death by his son Larry Yenter.

Gene served two years in the Army before beginning his career in computer science. In 1976, he moved his family to southeastern Minnesota to follow his dream of owning a farm. In addition to being an active participant in local and state government, he was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Preston, Minn., for 47 years. Gene was always curious; he was fascinated by technology and tinkering. He could fix almost anything. He loved to help his neighbors and work on his ‘57 Ford Fairlane retirement project. He enjoyed travel and had a strong sense of adventure. Even at 89 years of age, Gene left us far too soon and will be sorely missed.

Services will be held on April 23 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Preston, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Stuart Weist will officiate. Lunch will be served after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Preston.

Memories and condolences of Gene may be shared at rochestercremationservicesmn.com.
