The Eitzen City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, April 12 from 6:05-7:10 p.m. at Eitzen City Hall.
Mayor Jeffrey Adamson and council members Emily Burrichter, Mitch Lange, Doug Meyer, and Mitch Luttchens were all in attendance. Others in attendance were Darryl Meyer, Maintenance, and Steve Schuldt, city clerk.

The plan is still to use the $13,605.64 in ARPA funds for a generator. Unfortunately, the city is having trouble getting a price. It was noted that the company has all the information they need. The fire department has the equipment to install the generator on the fire department/city hall building. Councilor Lange mentioned, “There will only be one meter for the entire building.” Lange recommended that the city put a surge protector on the computer in city hall for that brief second when the power goes off and before the generator kicks in.
The mayor wants to create a six-person community center remodel committee. Committee members would include the mayor plus one other city council member, two Lions Club members, and two members from the fire department. The committee will be responsible for developing and implementing the plan, fundraising, and applying for grants. The mayor intends the project to become a community project and that all phases of the remodeling process would be done at one time.
The council tabled the discussion on smart meters.
The city is getting prices on refinishing and restriping the tennis courts for tennis. The courts will also be striped for pickleball.
The council supports the Lions Club’s efforts to purchase and install a nice scoreboard in the outfield, but at the current time the council does not support purchasing a new sign to place in front of the community sign.
Meyer informed the council that he already ordered the lights for the ball diamonds last fall after the city received complaints that there were dark spots on the field. Meyer continued, “The lights are probably sitting in the shop.”
The mayor reminded the council that the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting is April 26 at 6 p.m.
It is that time of year when the town is sprucing up the town and will create a list of properties not in compliance with the nuisance ordinance so letters can be sent to those property owners that are not in compliance.
The council approved Gator’s Bar liquor license renewal.
Mayor Adamson mentioned that Habitat for Humanity is looking at moving a house into Eitzen. At this time, it is not official. The mayor also shared that there will be Pee Wee games every Tuesday night in Eitzen from 4:30-9 p.m. this summer. Every night there will be four games. The mayor will contact the 4-Hers about running the food stand on Tuesday evenings as a fundraiser. T-ball will be held in Caledonia every Thursday at 5, 6, and 7 p.m. The season runs from June 13 through August 9 and there will be an end of season tournament in Eitzen.
