Eileen M. Dvorak Jacobson, 94, passed away on September 3, 2024, at Family Tree Care Homes in Shoreview, Minn.
Eileen was born November 24, 1929, to John and Hannah (Layne) Dvorak in the Rushford area. She graduated from Rushford High School. She was married to the love of her life, Vernon Jacobson, on January 24, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rushford. Together, they built a loving home in Houston where they raised their family. They made lifelong memories with their children, vacationing and camping across the western states and around the lakes of the upper Midwest.
Eileen worked at Tri-County Electric in Rushford, Valley View Nursing Home and Skifton’s Department Store, both in Houston. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houston and was involved in their CCW program. She was also a member of the Houston Legion Auxiliary and did volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels Program and the Valley View Nursing Home Auxiliary.
Eileen loved when family came to visit, especially when everyone gathered for Houston Hoedown Days or during the holidays. She found joy in hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and decorating the Christmas tree with her grandchildren, and later, her great-grandchildren. She was known for her sweet tooth, and anyone who walked through her door could always count on being offered something she’d recently baked. She took pride in her garden, enjoyed sewing, crafting, and playing cards with friends.
She is survived by her daughter Betty (Curtis) of Mounds View, Minn., her son Dale of Columbia, Md., and her son John (Jeanette) of Houston; her grandchildren Nicholas (Angie), Lindsay (Travis), Kaitlyn (Garrett), Megan, and Matthew (Taylor), her great-grandchildren Miles, Gabrielle, Liam, Weston, Emma, Brendan and Reagan, and her nephew John Dvorak.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lucille Dvorak.
