Edward George Myrah died at home surrounded by family on November 12, 2020. He was born on July 3, 1935, to Sigrid (Glasrud) and Lorentz Myrah in Spring Grove, Minn. He was raised on a farm with his sister and two brothers.
Edward graduated from Spring Grove Public High School. He married Audrejean Kragness and they raised seven children on their farm. He was a second father to Audrejean’s youngest siblings Dean and Cindy.
Ed farmed his whole life and was a great steward of the earth. He raised a variety of livestock and built up his Holstein dairy herd to 125 cows. Edward was passionate about holistic health and readily shared his knowledge. He was a progressive farmer who enjoyed turning his land into certified organic crop land.
He was well read and a seeker of knowledge. Ed was a family and community historian and was always excited to share his knowledge with others. He loved visiting with people of all ages on a variety of topics. He was abreast on current events and politics, and advocated for social justice.
Edward was a man of great faith who was actively involved in his church and community. He loved singing in the church choir and served on several church teams. Pastor Stephanie Frey shared, “The many conversations I had with Ed over the years were a great joy. I used to kid him about being a ‘theologian-in-residence’ at Trinity, but it was true.” Through the years he has been involved in the community in a variety of ways and most recently an active board member for Giants of the Earth.
Ed had a love for antique tractors and threshing bees, and enjoyed antiquing, auctions, and world travels with his wife Audrejean. He loved his large family gatherings, family reunions, and giving tractor rides! During fun family weekends on the farm, he was often found sleeping in his car at night (with the heat blasting) when his home overfloweth!
Edward is survived by his children Suzanne (Karl) Solum, Keith (Rebecca) Myrah, Jean (Randy) Eis/Jerry Berg, Jill Wall, Jane (David) Bjerke, Kristi (Phil) Griffin, and Matthew (Katherine) Myrah; 29 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three siblings: Marilyn Bunge, Leonard (Janna) Myrah, and David (Kathy) Myrah; and many nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife Audrejean, parents Sigrid and Lorentz Myrah, sons-in-law Donald Hanson and Karl Wall, great-grandchildren Clara Jane Bjerke and Nathaniel Solum, and brother-in-law Waldo Bunge.
Edward will be greatly missed by all who loved him! In the words of Edward, “God’s Grace, Peace, Mercy and Blessings to my family in Christ.”
On November 15, 2020, there was a private family burial. The family plans to have a celebration of life service at a later date. Cards can be sent to: The Family of Edward Myrah, P.O. Box 123, Spring Grove, Minn. 55974.
