Douglas Johnson, alias “Engineer Doug,” 74, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, with family members by his side.
Doug worked at Winona State University, where he fixed student’s laptops in what was called “walk in.”
Doug built two kit cars before moving to Rushford, where over a period of five years, he built a 1906 Buckboard Orient, his pride and joy. He became “Engineer Doug” with his use of his train whistle when working with Cat and the Fiddle band.
Doug is survived by his wife Carol Ledeboer of Rushford, three daughters: Kara, Angela, and Nona, all of Marshfield, Wis., and a stepson, Nathan Stensgard, who recently moved to Rushford. Doug has a sister, Nanette Johnson and was proceeded in death by his brother Denny Johnson.
Doug loved music and had a very comical sense of humor especially when he became “Sven” which was also very entertaining. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
