Doris B. Cooley

Doris B. Cooley died January 4, 2018, at her home in Ridgeway, Iowa.  She was born in Osage, Iowa to Thorvold and Lotti Syrsby on November 29, 1923.  She went to Hamilton Business College and worked for Oliver.

Doris met the man of her dreams, Orland (Bud) Cooley from Ventura, Iowa, and married him on May 5, 1943.  To this union three children were born: Ronald of Pilot Mound, Minn., Janele of Ridgeway, and Curtis (Nancy) of Dekalb, Ill.

Bud and Doris farmed for many years, and moved to Ridgeway in 1959.  Among other jobs, Doris worked for Ma Bell, Ridgeway telephone office for over 40 years.

Doris is survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren, three special foster daughters, 24 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, great-grandson, a special foster daughter, sister and brother in-law, and other brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral will be held Friday January 12, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, Ridgeway, Iowa.  Burial will be at a later date.
