Donald Keith Rogich

December 23, 2021 by Fillmore County Journal

Donald Rogich obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Don met our angels Leslie and Lynn Monday morning, December 20, 2021, at 3:30 a.m. He was very proud of his military career in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He made 42 jumps. He was also in Cuban airspace when president Kennedy turned the plane around. He received several medals throughout his military career. Don was also a member of Masonic Lodge. Don worked at an American motors plant in Kenosha, Wis., and was also a driving instructor and sold real estate. After moving back home he worked at the sawmill in Spring Grove, he then owned and operated Don’s Tree Trimming and Painting where all his kids worked side by side with him, which made him very proud.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kathie; his daughters Morgan (Matt) Yeager, Missy (Bo) Benson, and Lori (Matt) Morrissey; four sons: Ray Works, Larry Rogich, Don Jr. Rogich, and Steve Rogich; 13 grandchildren, Mason, Luke, Sierra, Sam, Levi, Sam, Jena, Nicole, Jake, Jack, Adam, Colleen, and Chris; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings: Earl (Sharon) Rogich, Jerry (Rose) Rogich, and Mary Rogich Ankerson;  and his special sister-in-law Carol (Terry) Schuldt and their five children: Dana (Tony) White, Leslie Schuldt, Ryan (Steph) Schuldt, Jordy (Emily) Schuldt, and Casey Schuldt.  Carol, Terry and the kids always made Don’s day special.  Carol also helped give Don rides to dialysis and made him any special treat he wanted – pies, turtles, and candies, making any visit with him a special memory. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lisa Inglett (Mark) and three sons, and sister-in-law Kathy Nelson and three sons. He will also be missed by many of nieces and nephews who loved their uncle a lot.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Hazel Whitlock Rogich and Louis Rogich Sr.; brothers Louie, Joe, Bob, and David; brother-in-law Steve Nelson, daughter-in-law Lynn Rogich, and niece Leslie Schuldt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia, with Fr. Matt Wagner officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. before the service at the church. Military Honors will be given. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be given at mccormickfuneralhome.net.
