The above quote is from The Reverend John Wesley (1703-1791). In light of all that is before us in our world today, it is a timely reminder for us to focus on doing good. In a world full of things contrary to God’s ways, it is important for people think about doing good rather than bad. The Bible teaches to love God and to love our neighbor. In loving God and loving neighbor we are called to do good. It is essential for us to live life with kindness, compassion, gentleness and love.
I think Wesley’s motto from the 1700’s rings true today. In many ways, it is a timeless message which speaks to the situation of our modern world. It also rings true with the teachings of Jesus as he calls to love God and to love our neighbor in doing that which is good. So… let’s begin today in making choices which speak to doing things that are good. Let’s turn away from things contrary to God’s ways and let’s live with kindness, compassion, gentleness and love in our hearts. Let’s strive to do that which is good in every way we can.
