David Frank Tewes, 67, of Caledonia, Minn., died at Gundersen Lutheran on October 30, 2023. He was born in Spring Grove, Minn., on June 9, 1956, to Paul Herman Tewes and Shirley Joan Tewes (Ranzenberger) where he lived and worked on the family farm with his siblings.
David Tewes had the biggest heart known to anyone who knew him. His love of farming and helping others will always be a memory. David met the love of his life Linda (Meyer) Tewes. Excited to start their lives together, the two were married on April 5, 1980, in Caledonia, Minn. They could not wait to start a family of their own, and they had five children and werer married for 43 years. Where taking family vacations were few, they were a memory that will last forever. Though he loved farming, helping others, and enjoying nature, David’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their grandpa. Everyone that knew David knew how much he loved his family and grandkids: Landen, Luther, Layne, Leif and Lenox Frauenkron, Jason, Gabriella and Garette Waldera, Kenra, Harper, Haley, Colton and Aspen Tewes. We could not have asked for a better man. We will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
David was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Shirley, and his brother-in-law Shannon.
He is survived by his wife Linda, children Lucius (Amber) Tewes, Lorrie (Ramon) Frauenkron, Elizabeth (Josh) Waldera, Charlie Tewes and Amanda Tewes; his sibling Caroline (Richard) Housker, Mark (Dawn) Tewes, William (Tonya) Tewes, Paul Jr. Tewes, Geraldine (Mike) Meyer, Ruth (Alan) Hageman, Esther (Ralph) Schneekloth, Shirley Vickerman and Christopher (Whitney) Tewes; his 13 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
A Christian memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on November 14, 2023, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m., until the time of service at the church.
