Dave Colbenson
Candidate for Peterson Mayor
1. Tell us about yourself.
My name is Dave Colbenson and I am asking voters of Peterson, Minn., to write my name in for mayor when you vote this November. I’ve lived in Peterson for over a decade with my wife Lori and our four children. Raising a family in a small community like Peterson has been privilege.
2. Why are you running for office?
I’ve served nine years on council in Peterson. During my time on council, we’ve dealt with an array of city issues, including detachment to property disputes, ordinance compliance, road construction, and plans for future development. As part of deliberations on the County Road 25 project, I learned a great deal on road construction and ADA compliance.
When it comes to enforcing our ordinances, I’ve always believed in working with residents to try to resolve issues that have gotten out of control. Sometimes circumstances, such as finances, disability, or a death in the family, have caused problems to explode and all that is needed is just a helping hand, because it shouldn’t be just about sending out notifications or fines.
3. What do you hope to accomplish if you get elected?
As mayor, I will work to complete projects that have been started, such as getting the rest of the streets in Peterson paved, putting in a new well and water tank on the hill, and then work on plans for our park and campground to fit community and visitor needs. As Peterson is in the heart of the Root River Valley and is ripe with recreational and other festive opportunities, I’d like to work with community members to develop ways to bring more visitors to Peterson.
I have the experience and courage to accomplish these goals. I would appreciate it if you would write in “Dave Colbenson” as mayor when you vote on November 8. Thank you.
